Quick answer: where the sale stands
Amazon Great Indian Festival 2026 opened to all customers at 12 a.m. IST on October 8, 2026, according to Amazon's own newsroom. Amazon describes it as the lowest prices of the year across smartphones, electronics, fashion, beauty, home, kitchen and everyday essentials, with a 10% instant discount on eligible SBI cards and extra savings for Prime members.
Two things Amazon has not stated on the pages we reviewed: an end date, and a 2026 date for Prime early access. We do not show either. Amazon's cards above, the status card, and the official sale page are the places to confirm what is live for you right now.
Deals, prices, stock and offer terms are set by Amazon and its sellers and can change during the sale. Treat every figure here as a starting point to verify at checkout.
Sale schedule
| Stage | What Amazon says | How sure are we? |
|---|---|---|
| Early deals | Early deals ran before the main event (a news report dates them from September 25). | Reported, not confirmed on the pages we read |
| Prime early access | No 2026 date stated on the Amazon pages we reviewed. Prime members have had early access in earlier editions. | Unknown for 2026 · historical pattern only |
| General access | Open to all customers from 12 a.m. IST on October 8, 2026. | Confirmed by Amazon |
| End date | Not published on the pages we reviewed. | Unknown |
Because no end date is published, this page never shows a countdown. If Amazon publishes one, it will be added to the central schedule and the status card will pick it up.
Bank, payment and Prime offers Amazon has described
These are the offers Amazon has itself described. Each one is labelled by type because an instant discount, a cashback and an EMI plan are different things and should not be added into one "total discount". Whether any of them applies to you depends on your card, the product and the terms.
SBI card instant discount
Instant discountAmazon says eligible SBI credit and debit card payments, and credit-card EMI payments, get a 10% instant discount.
Keep in mind: Eligible products and cards only. Minimum spend, caps and exclusions are set in Amazon's offer terms.

Extra savings for Prime members
MembershipAmazon describes extra Prime-member savings: up to 10% extra in one announcement, and in another an additional 5% off plus ₹250 cashback on selected products.
Keep in mind: Applies to products Amazon marks as Prime-eligible. It is not the same on every product.

Amazon Pay ICICI Bank credit card cashback
Cashback / rewardAmazon says this card earns unlimited 5% cashback for Prime members and 3% for non-Prime members on Amazon.in purchases.
Keep in mind: Cashback is credited later, not taken off at checkout. Card eligibility and terms apply.

No Cost EMI and Amazon Pay Later
EMIAmazon highlights No Cost EMI on selected products, and Amazon Pay Later, including a 3-instalment option on carts of ₹1,500 and above.
Keep in mind: EMI availability depends on product, card and tenure. Read how the interest is treated on your order.

What Amazon is promoting, by category
Amazon is promoting festive deals across a wide range of categories. We describe the categories, not discount levels, because a percentage Amazon quotes is usually a ceiling for selected products. Amazon's own headline claims, for example up to 80% off on selected electronics and fashion, say nothing about the product you want.
- Smartphones, laptops, tablets and electronics: the biggest-ticket purchases, where bank offers and exchange values move the final price most.
- TVs and large appliances: price swings between sellers and models are common, and delivery and installation terms matter.
- Fashion and beauty: discounts vary widely by brand, size and seller, so compare the same item rather than the badge.
- Home, kitchen and furniture: check dimensions, warranty and who is delivering.
- Books, grocery, personal care, baby care and pet care: smaller baskets, where combo and buy-more offers are worth checking against unit price.
Amazon also promotes quick delivery through Amazon Now in supported cities and an AI shopping assistant called Rufus. Amazon says Rufus can compare products, set deal alerts and show a product's price history. Those are Amazon's own in-app features and work only on Amazon.
What Prime members get, and what that does not mean
Amazon describes extra savings for Prime members, including additional percentage-off and cashback offers on selected products and higher cashback on the Amazon Pay ICICI Bank credit card. Two cautions. First, the extra saving is tied to products Amazon marks as eligible; it is not the same on every item. Second, Amazon's descriptions of the Prime extras differ between announcements (up to 10% extra in one, an additional 5% off plus ₹250 cashback in another), so read the exact offer on the product page.
If you are deciding whether to join Prime for the sale, work out the saving on the specific products you plan to buy, not the headline.
Categories worth watching
Where tracking pays off most is where prices are high and move often. For a deeper category-by-category guide see our festive sale categories guide.
- Smartphones and laptops: newer models are often priced firmly; older models change more. The exchange value can be bigger than the listed discount.
- TVs and appliances: prices can differ a lot between near-identical model numbers. Compare the exact SKU.
- Headphones, smartwatches and gaming: many similar variants, so make sure you are comparing the same colour, size and generation.
- Fashion and beauty: prices vary by size and seller. Note what you paid last time.
How to tell a real deal from a big percentage
A sale price is only good if it is low compared with what the product normally costs. These numbers are different, and each can mislead if used alone:
| Number | What it tells you | What it does not tell you |
|---|---|---|
| Advertised discount | How far below a reference price the listing is | Whether that reference price was ever the real selling price |
| Current price | What the listing says now | Whether it is low for this product |
| Historical price | What the product cost before | Anything about today's offers |
| Coupon | An extra reduction, sometimes applied at checkout | Whether you qualify at checkout |
| Bank offer | A discount tied to a specific payment method | Whether your card and basket meet the terms |
| Final payable amount | What leaves your account | Whether you could have paid less another week |
That is why "70% off" does not mean the product is 70% cheaper than its normal price. As a hypothetical example: if a product normally sells for ₹8,000 and the badge says 70% off a ₹30,000 list price (a ₹9,000 price), it is actually priced above its normal selling price. Use the discount calculator to turn a badge into rupees, and read How to Know if an Online Deal Is Actually Good for the full method.
Why tracking prices during the sale helps
Prices and deal availability move during a sale. A product can be cheaper on one day, back to its usual price the next, and cheaper again at a different hour. Checking once tells you what the price is at that moment, not whether it is a good moment.
- Before the sale: note the price you see now. It is your baseline.
- During early and general access: watch for the price reaching the level you decided you would pay.
- After a deal ends: a price that bounces back tells you how much the deal was worth.

How DealTrackerProBot helps
DealTrackerProBot is an independent Telegram bot. For supported Amazon marketplaces, including Amazon.in, and for Flipkart, it can:
- track a product you send it and tell you when the price drops;
- alert you when a price reaches or falls below a target price you set;
- show the price history the bot has recorded since you started tracking that product;
- send Amazon coupon alerts where a coupon is detected (not available for Flipkart);
- tell you when an out-of-stock product is available again;
- deliver all of this as Telegram messages.
It has no special access to Amazon or its sale, and it cannot guarantee the lowest price. The bot checks products on its own schedule, and no exact interval is published, so a very short deal may start and end between two checks.
